The Taskforce on Climate Related Financial Disclosures was founded in December 2015 by the Group of 20 (G20) and the Financial Stability Board (FSB).
The TCFD serves to provide investors with information on the measures taken by companies to mitigate climate change risks, and to ensure transparency in their governance. The Task Force comprises four areas: governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets and promotes greater transparency and accountability in corporate practices, with the aim of mitigating the risks posed by climate change.
Recommendations from the TCFD were integrated into the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) standards. In 2024, ISSB will take over monitoring and responsibilities from the TCFD into climate related disclosures.
