The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has joined the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC) in a move to accelerate the transition to a sustainable future.
SPLC is a non-profit organisation that connects purchasers, suppliers, advocates, and experts to drive positive impact through the power of procurement. The organisation’s mission is to support and recognise purchasing leadership that accelerates the transition to a more sustainable supply chains.
As a member of SPLC, GRI will participate in the organisation’s Assessment Working Group, where it will lend its expertise in reporting to the development of a Sustainability Assessment tool offered by SPLC.
In other GRI news, the standard setter recently welcomed the first two IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, calling them a “significant milestone” in the realisation of a strengthened global corporate reporting system.
The standards, developed by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), set out requirements for companies to disclose information about their sustainability-related risks and opportunities, as well as their impacts on society and the environment.
